Transitioning is the times
Crossing is the years
Birthing new trying lines
Rising new fears….
2013 is officially behind us and we step onto the soil in
it’s infant 2014th year.
We all celebrated the ending of one year while welcoming a new one…..but why?
Maybe it’s because it’s we as humans love things with the slogan “New” in front of a noun.
Maybe it’s that same obsession that drives us to celebrate a new year while acknowledging that tomorrow’s new year will carry yester year’s atmosphere.Unchanged the Earth returns when the year’s end fireworks burst in the skies signaling the end, illuminating the new,and fading out is the vivid colours in the skies, returning the darken skies that resembles yester year’s scenery.
So,i ask of you, what is different from today than yesterday?
I have a theory….
Yes,resolutions is what is different each and every year we cross into. When ringing in the new year,we feel as if,we have a sense of starting over.New year means new goals, new outlook on life, and new standards differing from our past ones.
- Quit Smoking
- Quit Drinking
- Lose Weight
- Get out of Debt
- Give back to the community
Those are just a few common resolutions amongst makers of the new year’s goal, but how many uphold the very goals they set for themselves? How many people can actually kick the obsessive habits of smoking and drinking if they just had a final drink/smoke at 11:59pm,December 31st?The answer is very few, because no matter what you say on the lips,if the heart not desire or commit to it,it will be very easy to fall back into the very habits you vowed to surrender. There will always be an excuse that drags you back into old habits, for example….
“Work was so stressful,so I went to pub to have few drinks to let the edge off.” or….
“I couldn’t fight the urge for one more smoke session”
The point is,instead of declaring what changes you want to make, gradually make them unannounced.Speak through the actions rather than the mouth and avoid risking disappointing not only yourself but others that buy into your spoken goals if they fall short.Be steady in achieving through steps, change the things that you know you CAN change without mentally killing yourself thinking of how you can achieve such a transformation, and lastly,do not set too high goals.Set it in steps so the walk upward will be a smooth journey.
But,Hey….I’m just one person and this is merely my approach to new year’s resolutions. You are free to do as you please.
As for me,do I have any resolutions?
The answer is: No
I just want to live life one day at a time and control what I can within my 24 hour period.
I will control myself to avoid fatal error
I will walk a noble path
and I shall cherish the ones that are always by my side.
To say that is my new year’s resolution is false. It’s simply continuing the journey I embarked on last year, only I intend to get better and more experienced on this year’s journey.
With that said,i wish everyone a happy and successful new year.
Life is a journey and you must be willing to face it for the good and bad
We all must reach an ending result.
Until next time
